A Choreographic Cosmogony
Humans is a movement from a sacred cycle rooted in the philosophical legacy of Nicholas Roerich — the artist, explorer, and architect of the Roerich Pact. The performance continues a choreographic exploration of ancient mystical rituals that predate recorded civilization. It evokes the primal energy of The Rite of Spring (Stravinsky/Roerich), delving into the awakening of nature, the origins of consciousness, and the primordial moment when the body first became a tool of ritual. The audience is immersed in a hypothetical world where humans are not born; they are created. Not by gods in a theological sense, but by "Cosmic Parents", beings from another dimension whose ritual dance is the very act of creation.
Genesis. A Myth Of Human Origins
The Cosmic Parents appear. Their bodies reenact an ancient ritual: the awakening of matter, the molding of form, the ignition of consciousness. From their movement, the human being is born - incomplete, dependent, terrified, yet brimming with unrealized potential. Then, the creators depart, returning to their home world. The created being is left alone on Earth, to discover language, to establish rules, and to build civilization from the ground up.
Part of the Roerich Cycle
Humans is currently in active development as part of a larger trilogy on Roerich’s cosmogony. Production partners and festival presenters are invited to initiate a conversation regarding the upcoming staging.
